Alexander Winery's Sandro Dry Red Wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend from Kfar Shammai in Israel's Upper Galilee, grown along the slopes of Mitzpeh Hayamim Mountain. The lone red in the winery's Parents Series, Sandro matures 15 months in French and American oak, developing a deep maroon-black color and a nose of ripe berries wrapped in fresh, toasted wood. On the palate expect chocolate, tobacco, and a touch of vanilla, framed by soft, supple tannins. Pour it alongside braised short ribs, grilled lamb, or a sharp aged cheddar.
