Towpath Gin comes from Towpath Distillery, a nano-distillery run inside The Merchant Tavern in Akron, Ohio, whose name nods to the Ohio & Erie Canal towpath once used to move the Piscazzi family's Prohibition-era spirits. This small-batch gin leads with juniper, then layers in coriander and orange peel, lemon zest, anise, warm cinnamon, and a touch of cubeb peppercorn for a silky, spice-forward finish. Built for classic cocktails, it holds its own in a gin and tonic or a dry martini, and sips cleanly on the rocks for those who want to taste the botanicals straight.
Tasting notes
Coriander and orange peel shine first, with lemon peel and anise quickly ushered in. Warm cinnamon and a fragrant, yet not overpowering cubeb peppercorn complete the show with house-styled silky texture.
