Añejo (“aged”) tequila is barrel-aged for 1 to 3 years in oak containers no larger than 600 liters. Extended aging produces a darker color and deeper flavors — caramel, chocolate, dried fruit, and tobacco alongside the agave base. It’s the whiskey lover’s tequila.

Añejo is best sipped neat or with a single ice cube in a snifter or Glencairn glass. The complex flavors reward slow, deliberate tasting. It also makes an exceptional Old Fashioned substitute — use añejo where you’d normally use bourbon.
