Here's a Tennessee whiskey with a story worth knowing: Uncle Nearest 1856 honors Nearest Green, the first known African American master distiller. It's a blend of aged barrels, made from corn and rye and charcoal-mellowed through the Lincoln County Process before resting in new American oak. Bottled at 100 proof, it opens with maple, vanilla, and cherry, then rolls into spicy caramel and dried fruit before a long, sweet vanilla finish. Sip it neat, over ice, or built into a cocktail.
