The Sassenach was born out of a Burns Night dram that sent actor Sam Heughan straight back to Scotland's hills — he founded Sassenach Spirits in 2020 and later opened Galloway Distillery in the south. This blended Scotch marries single malt aged 9 to 12 years with a much older single grain, finished with Madeira cask richness, non-chill filtered at 46% ABV. Expect citrus, vanilla, and toffee up front, stone fruit and cinnamon on the palate, a warm dried-fruit finish. Pour it neat by the fire.
Tasting notes
Nose: The nose is packed with citrus fruits, almonds, and vanilla. Upon tasting, the Sassenach delivers flavors of peach, apricot, honey and butterscotch.
Taste: The taste is smooth but distinctive, with an unmistakable sweet finish of cinnamon and nutmeg.
