The second chapter in Suntory's annual Story of the Distillery series wraps Hakushu's forest home right around the bottle — the label and gift box are crafted from handmade Echizen washi paper, picturing the distillery tucked into deep green woodland at the foot of the Southern Japanese Alps. Inside is a vatting of gently smoky Hakushu malt aged in bourbon barrels, bottled at 43% ABV.
Expect the profile Hakushu fans chase: bright amber in the glass, pineapple and vanilla cream with roasted green tea on the nose, a light wasanbon-sugar sweetness, and that quiet ember-smoke finish.
