Slipknot's No. 9 Small Batch Iowa Whiskey comes from a band that actually put down roots at the still — this bottling is distilled, aged, and blended at Cedar Ridge Distillery in Iowa. A 3-to-4-year-old blend of straight rye and straight bourbon, built on a 51% corn, 35% malted rye, 14% malted barley mash bill. Expect a floral honeysuckle-and-lily nose that gives way to caramel, cornbread, apple butter, and a touch of charred marshmallow. Pour it neat after dinner or drop it into an Old Fashioned.
Tasting notes
It begins quite floral, with hints of honeysuckle and lily. Then, corn and caramel hit. On the palate, cornbread, jalapeño, apple butter and a hint of charred marshmallow. A lovely medium finish offers a hint of chocolate. This is very much a worthy everyday pour.
