Slipknot No. 9 Reserve Iowa Whiskey is the collaboration between the band Slipknot and Cedar Ridge Distillery, Iowa's first licensed distillery since Prohibition. This reserve blends 4-5 year old straight rye and straight bourbon from a mashbill of 51% corn, 35% malted rye, and 14% malted barley, all mashed, fermented, distilled, and aged on-site in Iowa. Expect warming spice, a buttery mouthfeel, and notes of cinnamon, clove, and fried apple pie through a long finish. Pour it neat to let the spice unfold, or over one large cube.
Tasting notes
Think cinnamon, clove, butter and oak. As it hits the palate, it coats it with this goodness, buttery almost, dripping down the side of the cheeks and warms all throughout. There’s a comfort here, cornbread-like, with notes of fried apple pie, apricot and macaroon. It finishes medium to long with a hint of bananas foster.
