Sierra Norte - Mexican Yellow Corn Whiskey
Sierra Norte is a range of Mexican whiskies, all made in Oaxaca. This expression is made with native Oaxacan yellow corn, with a mash bill of 85% corn and 15% malted barley. It's aged in French oak, resulting in a lively and fresh expression.
Blue iris, dried chilies, and fresh linen; the corn is sweet and fat. Fresh and fruity, orange marmalade, honey oozing into maple syrup, developing more complexity as the smooth layers shift to accommodate the growing pepper and chili heat ahead of a spicy honey finish. For a 2 to 3 years old single cask whiskey, this is remarkably impressive.
