Overview

More Info

Rowan's Creek is stored in charred oak barrels. It is hand bottled at 50.05% alc./vol. (100.1 proof). Rowan's Creek is made and bottled by hand, in small lots, one batch at a time. The Bourbon takes its namesake from the creek that still runs through the distillery. Back in the late 1700's when John Rowan first settled around Bardstown , whiskey making was the order of the day. John went on and made a name for himself as a well respected judge and statesmen. The judge is long since gone, but the creek that still bears his name is still carrying the best limestone spring water there ever was for making good Bourbon, so you know the whiskey making is still going on. Try a sip of it, straight up in a snifter, or add a dab of branch water if you like.
Tasting notes

This has a wonderful soft silky texture. The pear, honey and spice notes come out on the nose and mid-palate, then hazelnuts on the finish. The higher proof on this bourbon is not apparent on the long lingering finish.

Reviews

Outstanding Taste for the Price

"This can be a good choice if you're looking for an easy drinker to introduce someone to bourbon. It doesn't, in my opinion, have an aggressive whiskey embrace at all. The flavor contains a lot of brown sugar. It makes a good savor. It's not the most complicated, but neither is it the most expensive. moderate finish"

— Denzel (5/5)

Authentic Flavor

"I wasn't sure what I thought of this at first tasting. Unquestionably not your typical bourbon. has a distinctive floral and spice flavor. It almost has a mild cinnamon-mint flavor, which is unusual. Once a drink is on your palate, it gradually grows on you. Not the best, but by no means the worst; just different."

— PattyM (4/5)

Decent and unique, but not worth buying again

"This bourbon's age is not specified, and it tastes fresh and light with a quick finish. Although it is 100 proof, this bourbon is not your standard vanilla, caramel, or brown sugar-forward spirit and does not have a distinct alcohol aroma. On the nose, I detect a faint vanilla, honey, and flowery scent. On the palate, it's pleasant but unremarkable; there are hints of spice and oak but it's difficult to identify other characteristics. Would suggest to someone looking to advance from basil hayden who is just getting into bourbon."

— D. O. (2/5)

Very best!

"I have a lot of whiskey and bourbon in my cabinet, including Kentucky vintage, Pikesville rye, Four Roses small batch, Knob Creek, Woodfords Reserve, Whistle Pig, Michters American, and others. I can honestly state that this stuff is the greatest! With a lot going on and a full flavor band, the entry is quite smooth and excellent. extremely smooth finish I'm confident that I'll buy again! Well done, fellas, on this one!"

— LesbonJ (5/5)

Betrayed by Rowan's Creek Bourbon

"Maybe I was given a faulty batch? The odor was strange. alcohol took over. I gave it 20 minutes to breathe in a shot glass. There was a musty aftertaste. perhaps from rotten corn? body that is thin and lacks complexity. There is only a faint background sweetness to the flavor. The remaining liquid was poured down the drain. I might give it another shot in the future. I'm currently disappointed."

— Richards (1/5)

Unexpectedly Impressed

"This whiskey is really intriguing. I've tried a lot of bourbons, and this one has one of the most distinctive and intriguing flavor profiles. I initially detected a lot of flowery fragrances, a lot of cherry, a tinge of vanilla, and possibly even a bit of clove. The flavor was fairly similar to the aroma on the nose, although there was a slight increase in the amount of vanilla and brown sugar. The simplest way to explain it is that it tastes like the best elements of bourbon and scotch were combined. Along with the floral and fruity aromas from scotch, it has the classic bourbon flavors. Excellent products; I will definitely buy more."

— Kalessi I. (5/5)

Astonished and Ecstatic

"My birthday gift from a pal was a bottle, which was consumed in just two hours. Anyone who doesn't drink bourbon adores it. Extremely smooth, without any bite—just ideal. Buffalo Trace had been my "go-to" brand even though I generally like Blantons. For the holidays, I'm purchasing additional Rowans."

— Liandrie (5/5)

Unusual And Outstanding

"I was hesitant about the inexpensive pricing and opened it at a meeting on the porch before trying it for the first time in comparison to the clients' preferred Maker's Mark. It had been recommended by a colleague to wow some clients. He and I were both quite impressed, and now it's getting more difficult to find. When I locate it, I purchase three bottles."

— Harmony-Destiny (5/5)

This Bourbon is fantastic!

"For a lot of years, this bourbon has been my top choice. It appears to have the ideal ratio of flavor to alcohol. I find that warming the glass in my hand significantly enhances the flavor and aroma. Enjoyable to sip on a quiet evening!"

— Lasseter (5/5)

Outstanding Price and Outstanding Bourbon

"I purchased this based on the advice of another Tpxyi bourbon customer, and he did not misdirect me. It has lovely aftertastes and is remarkably smooth, especially for a 100 percent whiskey. I heartily endorse it!"

— Janston (5/5)

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ 4/5 AI Rating

Reviewers on Reddit, Bourbon Culture and Bourbon Obsessed praise Rowan's Creek as a 100.1-proof Willett-bottled small batch — honey, vanilla, caramel and oak up front, fragrant spice and charred wood on the back. Multiple SFWSC golds and consistent value at $35 keep bourbon fans coming back.
