Pertinace isn't a solo winemaker — it's a co-op of small growers in Treiso, in Piedmont's Langhe hills, founded in 1973 and named for a Roman emperor famous for plain-spoken integrity. Their Dolcetto d'Alba comes from south-facing vineyards around Treiso and Alba, fermented just 8-10 days in temperature-controlled steel to keep things fresh: ruby red with violet edges, a berry-forward nose, and a structured, harmonious palate. Pour it alongside pretty much anything on the table, from pasta to grilled meats.
