Overview

The Pampero family introduced this very special rum in 1963 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pampero. It is the family from Venezuela’s crowning achievement and the result of their extensive experience and knowledge in the art of rum making. It is aged in oak barrels which gives it a mellow, smooth and intensely rich flavour. Each bottle is individually numbers and given a distinctive leather pouch. Having crafted an iconic rum “house” from humble beginnings, our founders, decided to pour all of their skills and knowledge into creating a rum to mark the 25th anniversary of its origin. Little did they know that over 50 years later, that rum would be the most prestigious their country would ever produce, having won more Gold and Double Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition than any other Venezuelan rums.

"Avoid being misled by marketing tactics and promotion when buying rum; unless you're drinking aged rum, this rum is excellent. Although Pampero Aniversario is not an aged rum, it is unbelievably close to one. If you prefer cigars, this Rum will provide for an outstanding smoke experience. Superb rum produced by Zacapa 23

"The only issue I have with this superb sipping rum is the cost. I'm leaning toward the Zacapa 23 if I can find it elsewhere for the same $35 price, but if you want to broaden your rum horizons and have a bottle fit for your favorite sippers, go no further. About the leather pouch, I concur with the previous poster that it's cool but not required. I recommend doing away with it and lowering the price by $5. In any case, the bottle looks better without the leather."

"After a few years of Ron Zacapa 23 and Plantation as my go-to choices, I'm really delighted to have taken a chance on this great, balanced rum. For the price, Pampero Aniversario Rum is remarkably smooth and doesn't have the overly sugary aftertaste that some rums of a lower caliber do. It easily matches the quality of several more well-known, highly rated brands, therefore I'm surprised it's priced quite inexpensive in contrast. I heartily endorse it, especially when paired with some water or ice."
