Hazelburn is Springbank's unpeated house style — triple-distilled in Campbeltown for a spirit built to be creamy and light before sherry gets involved. This Oloroso expression is matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks, unusual for a triple-distilled malt, and it shows: expect dried fruit, fig, and toffee sweetness layered over baking spice and dark chocolate, finishing long and warming. Non-chill filtered, natural colour. Named for a long-closed Campbeltown distillery, it's a sipping dram — pour neat and let the fruit unfold.
Tasting notes
Nose: Notes of cherry menthol, red cola, date syrup and black forest gateaux welcome us to this fully Oloroso matured Hazelburn. Soft fudge and caramel notes develop over time.
Palate: Rich yet balanced on the palate, there are notes of toffee apple, leather-bound books, demerara sugar and creme brulee.
Finish: A lingering finish, there are notes of rum-soaked raisins and vanilla sponge.
