Meet Old Hillside, a Kentucky straight bourbon from four childhood friends out of Durham, North Carolina, who named it after their historic high school. This single barrel pours at 97 proof from a mash of corn, rye, and malted barley. The nose leans woodsy and lightly smoky with a charred edge, then the palate opens into caramel, vanilla, citrus, and fig rounded out with maple and brown sugar. It finishes smooth and elegant. Pour it neat, over a big cube, or in an Old Fashioned.
