Named for brothers Luc and Pierre, this VSOP comes from Merlet & Fils, a fifth-generation family distillery in the village of Saint-Sauvant that's been at it since 1850. They blend Ugni Blanc eaux-de-vie aged four to twelve years, mostly from fruit-forward Fins Bois crus with a splash of Grande Champagne. Expect apricot, raisin, and vanilla with a cocoa-and-candied-orange edge. Sip it neat, over a single big cube, or let it lift a Sidecar.
