Here's a bottle that stops conversation: a whole apple grown inside the glass. Massenez ties empty bottles onto Normandy orchard branches in spring, so each apple matures in place before the vessel is filled with Calvados. The apple brandy itself is double-distilled from cider apples and rested in oak, pouring a warm gold with notes of baked apple, cinnamon, clove and caramel over a dry finish. Sip it neat after dinner, or let it warm a slice of tart.
Tasting notes
