Released annually in small batches, Laphroaig's 25 Year Old spends a full quarter-century in ex-bourbon casks before bottling at cask strength, undiluted and unchillfiltered. Made from the distillery's own floor-malted barley, it opens with restrained peat smoke, pear drop, green apple, and warm vanilla pastry, then turns tropical on the palate — pineapple, mango, white pepper — before a long, ashier, smoky finish. Pour it neat in a Glencairn and let it open up over time.
