Before it was a bottle, Rancho de la Luna was a legendary recording studio in Joshua Tree, California — the place where musicians came to record between the desert and the stars. In 2018 the crew took that same care south to Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, where mezcalero Carlos Méndez Blas roasts 100% Espadín agave in a conical stone oven, mills it by tahona, and double-distills it in copper pots. Expect fresh agave, clove, and roasted cashew with just a breath of smoke. Sip it slow, neat, alongside a wedge of orange.
