Journeyman Distillery in Michigan built this rum backwards on purpose: instead of a light, easy-sipping spirit, they took their unaged Road's End rum — organic Mexican blackstrap molasses, double-distilled — and rested it in used Featherbone Bourbon barrels, then bottled it at Navy Strength, 114 proof. Expect bold, earthy molasses depth with bourbon-barrel warmth underneath. Pour it slow, neat or over a single big rock, or use it to anchor a stirred cocktail that can handle the heat.
