This is the whiskey that had distilling legend Jim Rutledge falling back in love with Rye. It’s a blend of 5 straight Rye Whiskies from 4 states, each with its own unique mash bill and yeast strain and all between 4 and 5 years of age. JW Rutledge Distillery committed a full year and then some to perfecting a straight rye blend that had that unique rye character but stayed gentle on the palate and smooth on the finish.
Tasting notes
Lightly spiced on the nose with allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon, the palate brings in persimmon, caramel and cayenne pepper along with soft vanilla, citrus, and the critical rye element. Surprisingly mellow, this one feels old beyond its years.
