Hand Barrel's Double Oak Black Char starts as a high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon (64% corn, 24% rye, 12% malted barley), then gets moved into a second new American oak barrel with a deep #4 char for a bolder second maturation. Bottled at 105 proof, it pours pale amber with toffee, buttered corn, and cinnamon-pepper spice, rolling into honeyed baked apple and a minty, peppery finish. Pour it neat, over a big rock, or in your next Old Fashioned.
