Overview

More Info

Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Añejo is a wood-aged sotol from Chihuahua, Mexico, distilled from wild-harvested dasylirion — a desert succulent unique to the region and unrelated to agave. The plant's hearts are steam-cooked in masonry ovens, fermented, and double-distilled in a column still before resting in French oak, which layers in vanilla and dried-fruit sweetness over the spirit's natural herbal, earthy backbone. The result sips smooth and complex, equally at home neat, over a single rock, or in a barrel-aged Old Fashioned riff.

Best Tequila For The Money

"I've brought this tequila to several social gatherings with friends, and they all adore it. It has a nice flavor and is smooth. With no issues, I also create Margaritas with this tequila. In fact, it goes down so easily that people lament drinking too many margaritas. When we have guests around, I try to have this on hand. This brand of tequila is far better than more pricey varieties."

Your money will be well spent!

"With the low cost of a sotol (tequila distilled outside of Jalisco, in this case in Chihuahau), you can get all the exquisite flavor of a quality anejo tequila. Definitely a good investment!"

For Tequila Enthusiast

"I've had Hacienda de Chihuahua Sotols before, but this is the first bottle I've really investigated. Sotol is made from wild agave that grows in the Mexican deserts and is classified as a mezcal, though I've seen it treated as a wine. It's so different from what I usually do. The closest comparison I can make is powdered sugar with vegetal agave, earthy and assertive minerality (perhaps from the water used to cut the product), and subtle wood with caramel and vanilla. The flavors on the palate are butterscotch, leather, toasted vegetalness, peppery agave, and chocolate. While the middle of the flavor is somewhat bland, the finish picks itself back up with rosemary-like piney herbs, orange and watermelon peel, alcohol heat, and lingering minerality. Overall, the flavor is mild and easy to drink. Although I don't believe the proof is high enough for a drink, the results may be spectacular if applied."

Wonderful; have been consuming it for years

"I've been a fan of this anejo for a while. Both my buddies and it never let me down. When we have our small parties, this is our favorite anejo to drink."
