The 2022 growing season began with early budbreak and a mild summer. A Labor Day heat spike accelerated ripening, prompting mid-September harvest of Pope Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Subsequent mild temperatures allowed other Napa Valley Cabernet to hang on the vines into October, developing bold phenolics and rich dark fruit characteristics. The season concluded in late October with the harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon from Oak Knoll and Petit Verdot. This careful timing resulted in exceptional grape quality and flavors.
