Most mezcal skips the barrel entirely — Don Lorenzo Espadín Añejo doesn't. Made in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca (mezcal's traditional heartland) from espadín agave cooked in a pit oven, crushed by tahona, and double-distilled in copper stills, it then spends five years resting in American oak. That long rest pulls it toward whiskey territory: rich smoke laced with vanilla, oak, and toasted agave, finishing warm and mellow. Sip it slow, neat, the way you would a well-aged spirit.
