Desert Diamond Distillery - Gold Miner Dark Rum
Our Dark Rum won a bronze medal from the Ministry of Rum in 2010, and a Platinum medal in the 2011 SIP Awards, missing best of show by two points (we had a 97) to a 99 from guess who? Bacardi!
We start with a base of our Signature White Rum and age it with white American and French oak. The secret to the enticing flavors of our Dark Rum is in the simplicity…..the subtle flavors inherent in our Dark Rum that distinguishes it from all other rums out there! This is a full bodied taste with just the right notes of aging from the oak. Distinguished and grown up, this Dark Rum is a winner!
We are finding that this is a favorite of not just rum drinkers, but our whiskey, scotch, and bourbon drinkers also tend to like THIS rum. Our red wine drinkers like this rum too. Why? Because of the great flavors that develop over the first two minutes after first sipping the rum. Licorice, butterscotch, almond, cinnamon, nutmegs and chocolates. Most flavors are easily picked out by red wine drinkers that are used to picking up on subtle flavors in their red wines. They are pleasantly surprised!
If you enjoy Rum & Coke’s, this is the rum for you. This rum also makes great “dark & stormy’s” which are Moscow Mules with a dark rum instead of vodka. Think fresh lime, dark rum and ginger beer. YUM. And you must use the copper cup! Don’t forget the garnish of one mint leaf.
A full bodied bold taste at the beginning smooths out to a finish of butterscotch, almond, and licorice. Touches of spices and chocolate.
