David Nicholson Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, carrying a name that traces back to 1843, when David Nicholson began selling his own whiskey recipe out of a Louisville grocery. Built on a rye-forward mashbill , it opens with vanilla, honey, and toasted oak on the nose, then turns smooth and spicy on the palate, with sweet honey and a hint of chocolate carrying into a full-bodied, toasty finish. Pour it neat or over a single large cube to let the spice unfold, or reach for it in an Old Fashioned.
Tasting notes
Scents of vanilla and honey with smoky undertones hit the nose. Then, a mouthfeel creates the woody tones you’d expect, followed by an exceptionally smooth finish with hints of caramel, oak, and mild spice.
