Cabernet Franc is usually the blending grape in Napa reds, but Cakebread lets it stand alone, sourced from the cooler, Pacific-influenced Suscol Springs Vineyard in southeastern Napa Valley. The grapes are hand-harvested at night to lock in the sugar-acid balance, then aged in French oak. Expect violets and boysenberry up front, layered with blackberry, dried herbs, and dark cherry, held together by bright acidity and firm tannins.
