Barrell Craft Spirits - Batch BX2I
The Barrell Private Release Bourbon series is an exercise in micro-blending and variations on a theme. With bourbons of four different ages selected, they are then blended into multiple recipes. Each blend number has its own ratios, printed on the label and is then constructed in its own ex-bourbon barrel.
Barrell Craft Spirits Private Release BX2i Bourbon Whiskey has a component age statement of 30% - 5 year, 25% - 10 year, 20% - 14 year and 25% - 16 year bourbons. It shows a pronounced chocolaty and chalky, Indiana Bourbon influence.
Nose: You’ll likely detect a rich aroma of caramel and vanilla, paired with hints of baking spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. There may also be undertones of oak and a touch of fruitiness, such as dried cherry or apple.
Palate: On the tongue, Batch BX2I tends to present a robust flavor profile with layers of toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. The spices from the nose often translate to a warm, peppery quality, and you might find nuances of toasted oak and leather. There’s often a nice balance of sweetness and spice, with a rich mouthfeel.
Finish: The finish is usually long and warming, with lingering notes of caramel and a subtle hint of smokiness or charred wood. The spiciness might linger slightly, providing a satisfying end to the tasting experience.
