Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the family-owned Altamura Ranch in Napa Valley's Wooden Valley, where estate vines planted in 1986 grow dry-farmed at 700-1,000 feet on soils akin to the Rutherford Bench and Howell Mountain. Certain lots macerate on their skins for up to three weeks after fermentation, then age 34 months in 70% new French oak — a process that builds deep fruit and oak-spice layers with softened, integrated tannins. Wine Spectator has averaged over 91 points across the last decade of vintages. Pour it alongside grilled steak or aged hard cheeses.
