Our founder’s life was changed after 9/11, so he bootstrapped his journey and built his future in whiskey off his passion for photography, literally, using copper photogravure plates to build his first 50-gallon still.The whiskey that started it all. Capturing an unforgettable era was our mission; to create a rugged and rebellious whiskey, yet refine it with the utmost craftsmanship. Bottled intentionally at a high proof so customers can choose to either drink it full- strength, or enjoy the experience of the whiskey opening up with the addition of a little water or ice. Not a whiskey for the light-hearted.Our flagship, Colorado Rye Whiskey Barrel Proof, Unique, yet traditional, is a single barrel rye whiskey distilled in a copper pot still, aged in American white oak deep char barrels and finished with toasted Aspen staves to give a unique flavor.
Tasting notes
The malted rye comes across immediately on the nose with a cherry candy note, subtler aromas of sweet wood, toasted coconut, and maple syrup round out a surprisingly complex nose. On the palate, a rock candy sweetness quickly becomes all lumberyard, owed to the Aspen stave finish perhaps. The wood soon transforms into notes of clove and cinnamon stick and dark red fruit, all of which dissolves into a lengthy finish punctuated by a flavor reminiscent of the syrup in a jar of really good cocktail cherries.
