5 Tips For Responsible Hangover Recovery

Appreciating the fine craft and artisanship of alcoholic beverages is awesome, but it's important to keep wellness, responsibility, and moderation in mind as well.

Craft spirits can help with celebrating the special moments in life, and there’s no better way to make the next celebration even more special than by taking care of yourself in between.

Here are some tips for how to recover from a bender or hangover responsibly:

drink water to recover from a hangover

1. This may seem obvious, but drink a ton of water!🚰

Alcohol dehydrates, and drinking a lot of water can help your body recover. Warm water with lemon, coconut water, green tea, and electrolyte drinks can help you rehydrate and feel better!

2. Eat healthy foods, in small amounts. 🍲

Not overloading your system while ensuring your body gets the right amount of nutrition is key to hangover recovery! Try unprocessed and nutritious foods in small amounts, such as chicken or vegetable soup, quinoa, steamed stir fry, or any other unprocessed food, ideally with turmeric or ginger. Bananas have lots of potassium and can be helpful too.

sauna to sweat off hangover

3. Sweating can actually help.🥵

Saunas can increase your body temperature, activating your sweat glands and helping you sweat out hangover-inducing toxins along with reducing inflammation and body aches. Make sure to drink enough water before heading to the sauna so the heat doesn’t dehydrate you even more!

4. Be nice to yourself! 😘

While it may be tempting to get mad at yourself for drinking too much or for how bad your body may feel, some self compassion can go a long way! Help your body recover by focusing on taking care of it in the current moment, without beating yourself up for past decisions. Go outside, take a walk, do some yoga and rest, and once you’re feeling better you can focus on making some changes in how you drink for next time.
