Añejo tequila usually means one barrel and one story — Selección 1146 tells two. Sourced from Tequileña, the Jalisco distillery run by fifth-generation agave grower Enrique Fonseca using highland agave from Atotonilco el Alto, it ages first in used Cabernet Franc barrels from France's Loire Valley, then finishes in toasted American oak once home to Canadian whisky or Tennessee rye. Expect butterscotch and baking spice up front, dark chocolate, orange zest, and pecan toffee on the palate. Pour it neat, or build it into an Old Fashioned.
