Kings County Distillery - Corn Whiskey Moonshine
Moonshine most often refers to illegally-made spirit, but is also a term of art for distillate intended to be consumed neat, a concept familiar in other cultures, but often looked down on in whiskey. In the United States, corn whiskey is a legal class of whiskey that must be at least 80% corn and can be unaged, a nod to our tradition of moonshining. Our moonshine is a corn whiskey made from 80% New York State organic corn and 20% malted barley. Moonshine reflects the skill and ambition of the distiller. Any whiskey can be improved with barrel aging, but white whiskey is a distiller’s most challenging spirit and a measure of the distiller's talent. Like silver tequila or white rum, or even some eaux-de-vie—it is a purist’s spirit.
Tasting Notes
Bright with a sweet corn heft & subtle fruit/grassy notes that evoke a well-made silver tequila or a refined mezcal, this is our take on a classic American whiskey.
