Yamazaki - Single Malt Japanese Whiskey Distiller's Reserve
For nearly a century the Yamazaki distillery has been dedicated to the pursuit of crafting a world- class whisky that is uniquely Japanese. The still green valley that this distillery calls home is blessed with the perfect balance of pristine water and humidity. Here they have been creating innovations in single malt whisky production that incorporate an art of whisky-making passes down thorugh the ages.
This never-ending journey that winds tradition with innovation in pursuit of the finest Japanese whisky has let to the creation of a world-class whisky known simply as Yamazaki.
Nose: Classic Yamazaki strawberries and dried fruits with floral notes coming from the Mizunara cask whisky. Fragrant sandalwood and maybe coconut. Certainly a whisky where you could get lost in its nose!
Palate: The dried berries remain lively on the palate (it even develops some raspberry notes along the way), but they're dialled back a bit to make room for light oak, white peach and a small amount of spice.
Finish: Vanilla lasts and lasts, with spicy but sweet cinnamon acting as a final flourish.
