Overview

From the Camarena family's La Alteña distillery in the Jalisco highlands, this is old-school tequila done right. Founded in 1937, the distillery still crushes its cooked blue Weber agave with a stone tahona wheel and distills in small copper pots. Rested around eight months in used bourbon barrels, it pours soft caramel, cooked agave, vanilla and a flick of white pepper, closing on light oak. Sip it neat, or let it anchor a considered margarita.
