Oban's 2024 Special Release trades its usual restraint for something bolder. This 10-year-old single malt matures in refill American oak, then finishes in freshly charred, Oloroso-seasoned American oak casks, layering baked apple and warming spice over the distillery's signature sea-salted character. Expect salty sea breeze and cracked pepper on the nose, giving way to sea salt, citrus peel, and mandarin on the palate at a robust 58% ABV. Pour it neat to let the spice unfold, or add a splash of water to coax out candied lemon notes.
