Foursquare - 2011 Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXIV 12 Year Single Blended Rum
A 12-year-aged single blended rum, consisting of both artisanal pot and traditional twin column Coffey distilled molasses rums. Aged for 12 years entirely in ex-Bourbon barrels. All aging, blending, and bottling occurring entirely on-site at Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados. Single Blended Rum, Aged for 12 years in a combination of first, second and third fill Ex-Bourbon barrels, bottled at 60% ABV. No Color. No Sugar. No Additives. No Filtration. Distilled, Matured, Blended & Bottled entirely on island in Barbados.
Initial Impressions: Rich, bracing and complex with unique dried tropical fruit and spice.
Aroma: Caramelized grapefruit, dark cocoa, butterscotch, clove and Jamaican allspice evolve into sandalwood, brine, overripe pineapple and candied banana. Deep molasses characteristic with apricot and plums in the background.
Palate: Big, expressive and unctuous with subtle drying characteristics - black tea and citrus peel notes lingering. Rich molasses and baking spice round back out to tropical fruits and dried berry notes, finishing dry and lengthy with subtle tannins.
