Melissa is a versatile interdisciplinary artist with a focus on mediums like collage, assemblage, installation, and social engagement, dedicated to preserving the histories of African and Caribbean diasporas in contemporary art. Her work explores the fragility and diversity within the black community and has been exhibited at notable institutions like The Biggs Museum of American Art, while also earning support and residencies from organizations like ArtCrawl Harlem and The Alliance of Artist Communities. Featured in publications such as Black Enterprise, Forbes, Essence, and Refinery 29, Melissa is currently pursuing her MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art and serves as Director of Creative Innovation & Ideation for sk.ArtSpace, all while dividing her time between Brooklyn, NY, and Baltimore, MD, continuing to make a significant impact in the realm of contemporary art.
