Bulleit - Bourbon Move That Bus
Our selection was over a year ago on January 31st, 2022. Mellissa Rift (now Master Taster at Old Forester) rolled out the red carpet for our team. In all, we tasted through 7 samples and narrowed the field to these 2 fantastic barrels. We've had such great success over the years with our Bulleit picks. Great price point, great proof, and consistently terrific whiskey. Playing up on the bus drama from both this and the last selection at Bulleit, please enjoy "DON'T PARK THERE", and "MOVE THAT BUS".
Nose: This is a sultry and spiced meatball on the nose. Damp and funky to start, it opens with orange marmalade, baking spices, honey-dipped apples, and finishing with chocolate-dusted brown sugar.
Palate: The palate is silky and buttery, with brown sugar and caramel lined with a little nuttiness and milk chocolate like a turtle (the candy, of course). There’s something a bit funky about the spice, sort of like a dusty with elegance and balance in the glass. Honey and apple are aplenty, with a dense brown sugar and toffee sweetness that takes over as the fruit dissipates.
Finish: The finish trails semi-dry, clean, and slightly sugary, it continues with a cozy cinnamon oakiness to finish.
