Bob Dylan's Heaven's Door built this one for blenders at heart. It marries two straight bourbons with a straight rye, each aged at least five years in new oak, then reunited and finished another six to twelve months in deeply "alligator" charred oak barrels. That extra stretch layers in caramel, dark cherry, and toasted vanilla bean, over a nose of maple, dried berries, and gentle nuttiness. Bottled at 100 proof, it has the backbone for slow neat sipping or a stirred Old Fashioned.
Tasting notes
This bold, complex whiskey is both rich and earthy, with deep aromas of toasted grains and oak. the palate recalls flavors of persimmon, mulberry and fennel with a finish of crème caramel.
