About Four Barrel

A journey through flavors. Four Barrel starts with two bourbons, aged five and seven years in new American oak, then blended and aged across sherry, port, and maple syrup casks. Each cask layer adds its own character, creating a distinct profile that blends tradition with innovation. As Spiritbenders, we approach each blend with fresh eyes, seeking spaces where exceptional spirits are free to stand out.

Four Barrel holds a rare place among fine spirits, with a unique kiss of smoke that enhances rather than overpowers. This smoke subtly enriches the blend—like a touch of salt on a ribeye—without imparting a smoky flavor, instead binding the diverse elements into a cohesive, sophisticated sip.

We are Spirit Benders

Blending and finishing are just as important as mashing and distilling. Four Barrel is a blend of five and seven year old bourbons finished across four different casks. We integrate the flavors with a touch of smoke from charred oak staves at the end without creating a smokey finish. Our distinct proofing water is added in cask over a period of months in order to preverce the delicate flavors of the spirit.

Nose: Fresh cherry blossom and spring rain open the experience, leading to notes of English toffee, warm gingersnaps, and a touch of maple sugar.

Palette: Dark vanilla and sweet rum join with late summer plum and toasted coconut cream. A final hint of “center-of-the-s’more” marshmallow adds softness to the profile.

Finish: A memorable, medium-long finish that echoes a refined brandy, blending caramel and vanilla with the warmth of grilled ripe peach. The finish reveals soft undertones of spiced oak and toasted almonds, leaving a rich, inviting warmth.

We look for spirits that combine to be better than the sum of their parts. We are creating spirits that folks say, ‘I’ve never tasted anything like that before… and it’s delicious!'

And while blending is one of the focuses at Windows, finishing spirits is an entirely different art. New and unique used barrels are one staple. Creating a specific proofing water is another. And smoke… just wait until you taste the spirits that are coming from Windows Distillery. Post-distillation finishing of these exceptional spirits led to the concept of the team being “Spirit Benders.” If a spirit needs just a little something to elevate the taste profile, we spend our days figuring out just how to naturally and creatively bring the profile to life. It’s what drives us… make each barrel, each blend, each bottle something special that we’re delighted to share with friends.
