Ardbeg - Bizarrebq The Ultimate Islay Single Malt
What happens when you bring a pit master and master distiller together over a drop of whisky? You get BizarreBQ! It's a first from Islay-based Ardbeg distillery, with Dr Bill Lumsden and DJ BBQ (aka Christian Stevenson) collaborating to produce this barbecue-inspired single malt. In order to create the meaty, smoky, barbecue sauce profile, the pair combined whisky from three casks: double charred oak casks, toasted Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and barbecue casks (heavily charred casks, custom made using an old-fashioned brazier)
Nose - Deliciously smoky, with maple glazed bacon, molasses, and some earthy herbs.
Palate - Warming chilli and dried red pepper spice, meaty Maillard reaction, smouldering bonfire, and cinnamon and clove spice.
Finish - Smouldering charcoal and spicy biltong.
